Cohen won unanimously the 1st Prize at the International Busoni in Italy and since then has performed in over 2,000 concerts throughout the world as a soloist of the most important orchestras in the world. For the Swedish label BIS, Cohen recorded a CD entirely dedicated to Brazilian music and on this recording, the critic of the British newspaper The Times wrote:"Cohen is possessed of an extraordinary technique and capable of scorching the piano keys or melt our hearts" . The Gramophone magazine chose the recording Cohen's record label BIS, with works by Liszt, to join the prestigious and select list of the "Editor's Choice" and justified: "His interpretation of Liszt is not at all due to the famous recording made by Horowitz in both color and temperament. After living more than twenty years in London, Cohen moved to the United States in 2004, thus becoming the first Brazilian musician to take a lifetime professorship in the School of Music at Indiana University. In England, Cohen taught at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music where he won the title of Honorary Fellow.He was decorated by the Brazilian government with the Order of Rio Branco for his service to his country in the cultural area. His interest in academic
life led him to participate as a juror in several international competitions,such as the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. The highlights next season include performances of Cohen as soloist, among others, the Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonic , Seattle Symphony and St. Louis, and recitals throughout the world.In May 2011 will make its debut at Symphony Hall, presented by the Chicago Symphony.
