The ChineseQuintet is a chamber band featuring the initiator and Guzheng player Madam Fan Weiqing and other four music artists from China National Broadcasting Orchestra: Miao Xiaoqin, Kong Weijuan, Geng Hui, and Li Juan. The quintet has been to Germany, Austria, United States, Swiss, Italy, Russia, Japan, and other countries and left their footprints in the Vienna Golden Hall, the Kentucky Music Hall, the Smetana Concert Hall, the Dresden Opera House, and the UN General Assembly Hall. They’ve performed for major music festivals like the Prague Spring International Music Festival in Czech, the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Modern Music in Poland, and the Year of China in Russia.
They rearrange some classical ancient tunes and reproduce them through ensemble instrumental music to make these pieces their classic repertoire. Famous modern composers include Tang Jianping, Ai Liqun, Liu Changyuan, Mo Fan, Xiang Min, and He Yuan have all written a number of excellent chamber music pieces featuring the style based on traditional Chinese music and the quality of freedom and aestheticism. Their music style is unique.
